The quirky cafe serves fabulous cakes, cocktails and of course 'Freakshakes'. Alice in Wonderland themed, this is the cafe of curiosity with a popular freak menu that includes Kinder Egg, Ferrero Roche freak shakes, and not forgetting for the adults, a Chocolate Baileys inspired shake. Be sure to book a table in advance to avoid disappointment!

This little gem appeared a decade ago as a humble cafe and chocolate shop. Since then it has gone from strength to strength, embedding itself in the hearts of regulars and visitors to Belper. With several other cafes in the area, there is a lot of competition, therefore over the summer of 2017 'Freakshakes' proved to be the answer. According to Andy Booth, the owner of the quaint shop, he says 'since releasing the crazy shakes, over 500 have been sold'. Popular with youngsters and big kids, they have surely been a success with many more ideas and fun freaks to try.

Not only a coffee shop as the name suggests, they also experiment with crazy cakes and freakish shakes, offering different ones suited to the time of year. In the summer of 2017 during the school holidays, there was a different designed 'Freakshake' for every week, from 'Jammy Dodger', 'Lemon Meringue' and 'Cookie Monster' to 'Bakewell Pudding' and 'Old School'; a shake topped with sweets galore! Now that we're heading into the festive season, be sure to keep your eye out for a Christmas shake by following their Facebook and Instagram pages!
