If you haven't heard of the 'Freakshake', where have you been the last 18 months?!

Let's get back to basics then... the 'Freakshakes' life began in the Aussie capital of Canberra and soon became popular all over the world. With it's gut-clogging, sugar- filled presence, its sure to give us all a shorter life span. But hey, we all need a bit of freakishness in our lives.

Think milkshake in a glass jug, with anything from doughnuts to muffins plonked on top and all imaginable sweet treats sprinkled over it; fresh whipped cream, marshmallows, sweets, edible glitter, popping candy, dessert sauces, the list goes on. They really are a sight to behold, with endless different designs and themes that inspire the pioneers of these unique creations.

Yet, the world and its crazes move on so quickly nowadays, and fanatics are onto their next extreme sugar fix.

Ultimate Hot Chocolates

Instead of the unsophisticated variety, there seems to be a new winter turn on, on the horizon... ultimate hot chocolates. We all love a steaming hot drink when outside is not so pretty, but the ultimate hot chocolate is a cut above the rest. With the choice of milk, white or dark hot chocolate and an array of different flavours, plus cream and marshmallows, not to mention the delicious cake on the side, how could you say no?

The famous Derbyshire Cafe', I Should Cocoa have jumped onto this idea, serving the Ginger Ninja, Death by Chocolate, Cherry Bomb and Salty by Sweet. Why not pop in and have a try or go to their Facebook and Instagram page for a sneak peek?

Freaky Fruit Smoothies

If your looking for a healthier option, there is a smoothie equivalent to these monstrosities... freaky fruit smoothies. These smoothies are made from mixing together apple juice and frozen fruit, topped with ice. Again I Should Cocoa serve these delicious summery drinks with fresh fruit and a vibrant umbrella, giving customers the experience of lying on a Caribbean beach, just without the constant top ups.

Cake Jars

The love child of the 'Freakshake' and muffin-in-a-mug, these creations aren't as abrasive as their pushy parent but they sure do look and taste just as good. You can make them as simplistic or complicated as you wish. Using the average Victoria sponge cake mix, add colouring and flavourings, when it's baked go wild with different fillings and toppings! It's sure to be a winner with all ages.

Sweet, Savoury Treats

So, we've all come across the 'extreme' cake trend that all started with the Skoda cake advert. Cake makers across the world try to out do each other with more ridiculous ideas, bigger cakes, colours and strange flavours. Part of the trend is disguising savoury meals and snacks as cake. Burgers and fries, pizza, a bag of crisps, you name it, somewhere in the world you'll find it.
